Aboat
Autobahn is a continuous, autonomous traffic system for simulated vehicles.
It plays on a 20-meter-wide screen in the exhibition space at SOLO CSV in Madrid.
Participation
Gallery visitors can physically drive around the space in an Ugly Fiat Multipla. A Fiat wheel with horn is connected to the simulation onscreen. Pressing the horn spawns a car to fall from the sky.
All cars can be minted on autobahndotcom.de and are stored as 1:1 GIFs on IPFS.
Installation runs in 2 Modes
Continuous: Simulates indefinitely and can be observed in person during the opening hours of the exhibition. Cars can spawn multiple times.
Finite: Simulates twice. First simulation was on 16 March, the second can be viewed in person or during a live stream on 26 June at 7:00pm CEST.
Every car, minted and non-minted, spawns only once. Minted cars spawn off screen, then drive into view. Cars that haven't minted until 26 June at 1:00pm CEST are set up to fall from the sky (this is done manually, therefore the deadline). Spawn frequency can be manipulated on site by pressing the horn button in the physical car. The Finite run concludes when all cars, minted and non-minted, have been simulated.
Cars
Each model’s properties contribute to the driving. See market for specific models.
Secondary markets: https://opensea.io/collection/autobahn (first finite run) & https://opensea.io/collection/autobahn-371957117 (second finite run)
AI Drivers
Every car is driven by a randomly assigned AI agent with a set of traits. Personalities influence how careful versus aggressive drivers solve road situations.
Dates
Continuous: 10 March – 18 July. Please book in advance on SOLO CSV tickets.
Finite: 26 June, 7:00pm. On site and on youtube.com/Uglyfilm.
